I teach twenty-five happy and excited-to-learn third graders. All day long they have fun growing, thinking, and trying their best. Our school is a wonderful, small multicultural school located in Los Angeles. Over 32% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and everyone receives free breakfast.
This project will help my third grade students write an original story using the requested MacBook Pro laptop and get their story published into a hardcover book.
My students will also use the laptop to edit their cut paper animated films.
My Project
My students need a MacBook Pro, HP Toner, and a Nugilla Lavalier Lapel Microphone so they can make and edit original movies and publish their books. When I brought in my green screen and set it up, my students immediately began writing stories that they could record for a school newscast. But the stories weren't about activities at our school. My students wrote stories about the things that interest them: pugs, the Supreme Court justices, cats, frogs, and fashion. The small lapel microphone I have requested will help my students interview students and adults for their newscasts.
When I told my students that I have made arrangements to have their original stories published and bound into hardcover books, they immediately began writing original stories and making sketches of the illustrations that will accompany each page of their books.
Once everything is laid out perfectly in our computer, my students will print the books out and mail them to the publisher! Having toner will help us print each book out!
When I will tell my students that we will create cut paper animated films and edit them with the MacBook Pro I have requested, they will gather into groups and come up with amazing movies to draw, cut out, and turn into animated films. I just can't seem to find the end to their creativity and positive energy, and that's absolutely fantastic for all of us!
