Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Third graders come to school brimming with enthusiasm and excitement for learning, life, friends, and interests. Over the course of the year, they will reach major milestones.
My students are inquisitive learners, full of energy.
They are excited to learn and ready to work hard. My third-grade students enjoy school and look forward to learning. My students come from diverse backgrounds. About 50% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We live in a small, rural community in western Colorado.
My Project
Like most teachers, I have built my classroom library by going through bins of books at Goodwill, picking up books that other teachers don't want anymore, and spending my own money at Scholastic book fairs. These book were fine for my classroom library when I taught kindergarten and first grade, but my third graders have outgrown them. I need some new chapter books for them, that will ignite more interest in our classroom library. Some requested titles include The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, The Secret Garden, Because of Winn-Dixie, The Complete Adventures of the Borrowers, and Harry Potter and Roald Dahl Collection box sets.
My students need classic and high interest books!
It is important for all students to have access to high quality, children's literature. I know my students will love these new additions as much as I did when I was their age.
