My Project

I teach the most amazing and unique second graders around! My classroom is very diverse, including English language learners, special education students, and students receiving speech, language, or behavioral support. What unites us as a community is that each child comes to school with a deep desire to create, solve problems, and learn. This project is for chapter books and end of the year gifts.

End of the year books and gifts will help students feel appreciated and close out our year on a positive note by further strengthening the relationships we have formed this school year.

Many of my students have been very reluctant to try reading chapter books. As much as I love picture books, I want my students to see that they can easily read chapter books, so I chose two high interest chapter book titles that are at their reading levels and have a reasonable word count. The students will be able to read and enjoy the books together. This will be another great way to build upon the bonds they have created with one another.

The friendship bracelets and race cars will be such fun gifts for them to enjoy together. These are two items I know they will love! I have also included some fun book marks as a fun way to mark their places as they read each day.
