Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students in my third-grade class begin school with varied abilities. Math and reading can be challenging to an average student and may seem impossible to a student functioning below grade level. Good attendance and positive attitudes are rewarded and students strive to be AVID leaders of our school. Our school community is supportive and fosters a loving environment. My students are hard workers and strive for excellence!
The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more you learn, the more places you'll go.
-Dr. Seuss
My students are hard working third graders, with a powerful drive to succeed. They have varied abilities and need different levels of support to achieve their goals. My school has an enrollment of 671 students from K through sixth grade. We have a diverse population with a large percentage of English language learners and special education students. The majority of our students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
My Project
My students need basic supplies to replenish what they have used and support what they are learning. Pencils are used on a daily basis and we constantly use them up. My class would benefit from a box of new pencils to use throughout the year. Photo copier paper is used on a daily basis as well and supply is limited. Sentence strips are a great asset for our new literacy curriculum. They are used to make sentence starters to support our English language learners, word walls, and turn and talk starters for the whole class.
Third graders benefit from many different classroom supports.
Math center games help give my students the independent time they need to master the skills for multiplication. Center time provides students with the chance to work in small groups and rotate to each center.
