It is always important to reflect on teaching practices and see where there are areas for improvement. Students are becoming better readers, but writing has continued to be an issue year after year since time dedicated to writing has either gotten shorter or replaced.
Phonics instruction has received a lot of recognition in the Science of Reading movement, students also need explicit instruction in writing.
Think SRSD is the original online open-course professional development provider of SRSD. Their e-Learning will support our building in teaching the writing process and all genres (informative, opinion and narrative). Their lesson videos were shot in expert real classrooms, K-12. They include student-facing think SRSD writing instruction lesson videos and activities, piloted in an IES research study.
