My students need a carpet! Countless times during the day we meet as a whole group on the carpet in our classroom. After years of use, the carpet we had in our classroom is worn out.

My Students
I teach 4th Grade in New Bern, North Carolina in a Title I school. My students come to me from all walks of life. Fourth grade is by far my favorite grade to teach. Students are starting to find their independence but still need a fair amount of guidance at times.
I strive to make our classroom a place where any child can walk in and be excited about what they will learn that day!
My students love hands-on learning and group work. They love moving around the classroom to different areas and working with each other on collaborative projects or problems.
My Project
Each day we start our morning off on the carpet with "Morning Meeting". This is a time where the whole class comes together to talk, share, reflect and connect with one another. Each afternoon we close our day with a short reflection time where we meet on the carpet and discuss our day. Throughout the day there are several occasions where we meet on the carpet to learn a new topic, take notes or independent read.
A classroom carpet may seem trivial to some, but for us, it is the hub of our classroom community.
We spend a lot of time out of our desks in different learning environments, and the carpet is a big part of that. The current carpet in our classroom is old and worn from years of use, and we are in need of a new one.
