This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I recently led a math training for the Golden Apple Foundation of NM. I had many impressive educators attend from across the state. One of them happened to be related to the author, Barney Saltzberg! She invited him to my final session which was about tying children's literature to mathematics. I was so inspired by him and want to use more of his techniques to get my students thinking outside the box! Barney uses mistakes to teach children to think abstractly and create something new! We will use his books and the journals to do squiggle art. That is when children are given a random squiggle and asked to turn it into something new! Thank you for helping us learn, grow, and see different perspectives!
