As an English teacher, I want my students to be engaged during instruction and collaborate with their classmates. That is why using whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom. Whiteboards on the wall allow me to see exactly what they are doing and provide an easy place for them to show and share their work.
This school year, I will continue to nurture a "thinking" classroom that aims to help students cultivate critical thinking and active engagement.
I find it necessary to have a classroom that is not only conducive to thinking but also occasions thinking, a space inhabited by thinking individuals as well as individuals thinking collectively, learning together, and constructing knowledge and understanding through activity and discussion.
