My Project

We need large whiteboards so that students can think and problem solve together to develop a deeper understanding of math. Having students stand and consider how to build on current knowledge will develop a deeper understanding in math. My students have few problem-solving skills and my goal is to guide them through projects where they work together to solve problems instead of just duplicating teacher-presented instructions with little understanding of WHY the math works.

Math isn't only about formulas, but it's about solving problems!

Students need to develop problem-solving skills to be successful in all facets of life. Instead of teaching repetitive duplication of instructions, these vertical whiteboards will allow me to implement a more active, problem-solving, and thinking classroom environment.

Please help me transform my classroom into a thinking and team-building area where students learn that math is solving real-world problems! And while we're at it, shooting some model rockets will be a fun way to show how math is applicable to real life.
