Thinking About Thinking...Help Us Utlilize Reflection
My students need 65 composition notebooks. These will be used on a daily basis for the students to write about their thinking.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Greetings! I am a 2nd grade teacher of all subjects in a Title I school. The majority of my students come from a less than ideal economic situation, but they THRIVE daily to be smart in spite of of their economic status.
When kids reflect on their learning, they retain 50% more information for an extended period of time. Wow!
In our class, we try our best to reflect often, but we do ALL of our reflecting in our spelling notebook. Each subject doesn't have a central location to store our reflections. Our math reflections are mixed in our spelling patterns, science, and vocabulary words.
My students need 2 composition notebooks apiece to simplify the process and organization of reflecting.
The highest level of learning occurs when students write about the thinking that is taking place inside your brain when you do an activity. I want my students to be able to write about their thinking in every subject everyday, in an organized manner.
If you could assist us in purchasing these composition notebooks, our performance will improve in all subject areas. My class will become better writers because they will be writing in every subject, everyday. And, we will retain more of what we learn for an extended period because we have been reflecting on our thinking. It is tough to translate your thinking into writing, but doing so, my students will also become better communicators. This is GREAT because most of my students speak English as a second language. The opportunity to write on a daily basis, and discuss our writing with a buddy, are key activities to learning how to use the English Language.
I appreciate your attention to our classroom and we would cherish any donation you could give toward our project. Have a lovely day! And, thank you!
