My students need geometric shapes to physically hold in their hands when learning about surface area and volume. These Folding Geometric Shapes allow students to unfold the shapes and visualize their geometric net.

My Students

Ask any middle school teacher why they chose to teach at the middle school level and their response will most likely be—the kids. These young adults are just beginning to understand and figure out their paths in the world. Their curiosity, love of learning, and youth bring so much to each and every day. While each and every day is different, my students enjoy discovery of new topics and engaging activities

In middle school, I always encourage my students to be life-long learners.

Sharing with my students that every day can be an opportunity to learn something new. As a middle school teacher, it's our job to give them this opportunity!

My Project

These 3-D geometric shapes are a colorful and fun manipulative that will help all my students visually understand surface area and volume. Students will use these cubes, cylinders, and pyramids to visually unfold the geometric net of each shape. By visually folding the net, students will be able to solve the shapes surface area.

Many of my students learn best with visuals and hands-on activities.

The 3-D shapes will be a clear visual and something my students will be able to physically touch. With these 3-D shapes, my students will have an engaging tool to better there learning and education.
