My students need knex sets to model out real world engineering problems. These students desperately need exposure to engineering toys and creative play opportunities.

My Students

The Thinking Outside The Box project started to create a paradigm shift in the way students attacked real world math and science problems. The hope is to inspire creative thinkers.(Our students live in a world that has never known MacGyver)

We serve inner-city students that are in desperate need of opportunities to create, explore, and build.

Creative play is essential in developing neural pathways; and creating better problem solvers. My students need help thinking outside of the box. They need help to see beyond what already exists and begin learning to create.

My Project

Knex are an inexpensive gateway into the world of engineering. Legos would be Ideal but even if the students had legos, due to lack of experience, they wouldn't know what to do. The students started with Tinkertoys and love them, for potential engineering projects. However I believe they are ready for the next step in their growth; this starts with Knex.

My students absolutely need help to change their trajectory.

It is time for this group of students to break the cycle of low success that has plagued this community. This is a serious matter and sometimes a little play is just what the doctor ordered.
