Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an amazing group of third grade STEAM magnet students. We enjoy challenging each other to grow mentally, physically, and emotionally.

My students are enthusiastic, creative, focused, and enjoy a hands-on approach to learning.

They are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and to have a positive mindset​ in everything they do. It's exciting that they come to school eager to learn. My students attend a Title I school in a low-income area. The entire school participates in a free breakfast and lunch program.

My Project

I am so excited to once again bring art canvases to my students. In June 2012, I requested my first set of 9x12 canvas panels, brushes, and acrylic paints. Every year after that, I have requested and received canvases, paints, brushes, art books, and so much more to bring life to the arts.

This year, I am requesting canvases and brushes to bring life to my students' study and appreciation of the environment and the arts.

My students will focus on the environment and the arts. Through generous donors like yourself, my class received recycle bins they will share with the entire school. We began our study of the environment and researching ways we can make an impact on preserving Earth for future generations. To culminate our study, my students will visualize their world in 20 years and reflect on what they hope to see. Then they will sketch and paint their thoughts onto the canvas. My goal is for my students to share their appreciation of the environment through their masterpieces and make a positive impact on those who view their art.

I'm excited to see how my students will express their creativity as they paint like artists and environmentalists.
