Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our classroom, math is more than numbers on a page — it’s a language of discovery, collaboration, and creativity. To help learners truly engage with math, I’m working to create a space where they can explore concepts with their hands, communicate their thinking with their peers, and see the connections between math and the world around them. With tools like compasses, protractors, whiteboard markers, and display materials, my goal is to make learning math active, visual, and deeply interactive.
I want to give my students a classroom that inspires exploration, communication, and confidence.
Many of my learners come to school without all the material resources they need, but what they bring with them is even more valuable — curiosity, energy, and a desire to learn. When they’re given the chance to work together, talk through their thinking, and move around the room, they light up. These tools will help them take ownership of their learning, make sense of math in real ways, and see that they are capable problem-solvers.
