My Project

I like to incorporate different techniques into my classroom through mini units called skillbuilders. This is a way for me to introduce multicultural and art history lessons into my choice-based classrooms. The idea is to show students examples, talk about the artist and then how the work is made and practice these techniques. Students then can incorporate these practices into their personal works of art. This teaches students to appreciate and learn from a variety of artworks rather than creating cookie-cutter art or copying someone else's work. With so many different techniques out there, it's important that I am constantly learning and exploring so that I can bring this information to my students and support their artistic exploration.
