My Students
I teach a group of hard working, inquisitive second graders in rural North Carolina. Our school is considered a high poverty school and most of my students are ELL learners, but those things do not define us!
In our class we enjoy discovering new books, solving challenging problems and letting our voices be heard!
My goals for my students include academic goals, but also character goals. I tell my students daily "be amazing, be kind!" It is important that I instill in my students the desire to learn and also the desire to make the world a better place by spreading kindness.
My Project
In second grade we study a wide range of writing types from informational to imaginative! Every day we spend time crafting, researching and sharing our writing with our friends.
The writing process can be exhausting for young writers and our favorite way to celebrate is by publishing our writing!
We have a very limited ink supply so often we are only publishing our BIG projects, but I would LOVE for my students to be able to publish every work that they complete! This would be a great motivation to see their writing through to the end of the process!
After we print our writing we use construction paper to make book covers and decorate using markers! My students take pride in taking these books home to their families after working hard to get them published!
The supplies that we are asking for in this project will have a weekly impact on my students! We create new writing projects every week and I would love for my students to have ALL of their writing projects published!
