Our elementary school has students who are curious and adventurous. They love trying to invent things and are interested in designing things that can solve problems. Many of them enjoy challenges and are learning to work together to meet goals.
On the playground they use natural items to design and build but when they come inside they don't have the materials they need.
When the weather turns colder they will be indoors a great deal and I want to give them the opportunity to design and build indoors too.
Students need these engaging opportunities to work and solve problems together in order to grow and succeed.
LEGO is an amazingly versatile tool/toy that engages just about every child. Full funding of this project will allow me to create LEGO challenges that engage Pre-K to Grade 5 students to try to solve a problem. Students will then work together sometimes in the same age group sometimes in multi age groups to find solutions to the challenges.
I will also provide ample opportunities for students to design their own projects with LEGO both independently and with a collaborative groups.
Students will be building skills of design, sharing, perseverance and working together in a really fun and engaging way.
