it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing four year-olds from the US and Mexico. Most are Spanish speaking or bilingual students. Our classroom is a bilingual pre-kindergarten class located on the Texas/Mexico border in what has been ranked the "Poorest City in America," but that is not what you will find in this class. You will find students who are eager to learn and excited about their first year of schooling. We take pride in creating an environment that gets students excited for learning to create a strong starting point to becoming lifelong learners. These students are sponges for learning and come in every day with the willingness and determination to learn and succeed.
My Project
Please help me redo my classroom library and turn it into a cleanable, safe and inviting space for my Pre-k babies. Literacy and books are a focal point in our classroom. Our library is one of our biggest learning centers so that children can see the importance of reading and have ample opportunities to engage with literacy games and books. This helps build children's love of reading at an early age and creates lifelong readers. As the new rules of cleanliness and safety are being made , I have had to remove many items from my classroom that are not easily cleanable. That includes many sitting areas in my classroom library. My hope it that with your help I can bring in items that are safer for students and transform my library back into a warm and inviting space for my young learners.
