The Internet has so much to offer to students these days, yet without a way to project that information to the whole class, it goes to waste. Help me show my low income kindergartners what this world wide web is all about!
I teach in a low income school in an urban city in California.
Many of my students do not have access to technology on a daily basis. They come from all walks of life and are very eager to learn. Many of them also do not have access to the same experiences that more privileged students have, things that you might take for granted, seeing the ocean up close, driving over a bridge, visiting a museum or flying in an airplane.
My Project
An LCD Projector will allow me to open their eyes to what technology has to offer, while also allowing them to see and experience things that they may not get to experience on their own. Students are inquisitive at heart and often I can't provide them with immediate answers. With an LCD projector, when a student asks, "What does a bobcat look like?", I can provide them with an immediate picture on the screen big enough for everyone to see and learn from, never letting a teachable moment go to waste!
Students need to be exposed to various methods of teaching.
One thing that is lacking in my school, is technology. I would love to be able to explicitly show them how technology can be used to learn new information and encourage them to be life long learners. A projector will open the doors to so many more teaching and learning opportunities. Thank you so much for choosing to fund my project!
