Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The talent and genius each child brings to class deserves recognition. "Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid." Einstein
I work with students who come from one of the poorest areas in their town.
They face adversity every single day of their lives. But this is no sob story. These kids want more for themselves, and they work hard for it. My students are part of a school that ranks number seven out of all the schools in our state. Their test scores are consistently higher than those of their peers around the state and in district. My students have a hunger for success in life, and my mission is to help them earn that success however I can.
My Project
After working hard to master fourth grade standards and perform well on our state test, my students will be working to show their intelligence in different ways. We will be working on several projects to display our learning of the major standards this year. My students will be creating maps, brochures, board games, and other synthesizing projects to demonstrate their mastery of fourth grade content. We need access to new supplies like markers and colored pencils so students are able to create high quality work.
Many of the students in my classroom, and school, don't come to school with all of the supplies necessary to be successful.
Most students only come with essentials, and some don't even bring that. These markers and colored pencils will prove to my children that they are worthy of new supplies, that they are worth having the best, not leftovers. Please show my kids that they matter and are deserving of good things in life.
