My Students

My students are poets..and they know it! Their creative minds are at work writing poetry and they know it's almost time to begin publishing their best work. The publishing process in our classroom requires materials/resources that we don't have and need.

My students are extraordinary individuals.

They are intellectually curious...And have a love of learning! They are in a gifted magnet self-contained classroom, where their talents/special skills are nurtured. Creativity is encouraged and the free-verse poetry unit is just one way students have the opportunity to express their unique selves!

My Project

The supplies I am requesting so graciously will enable my students to take free-verse poetry writing to the next level...Publishing! They need ink for the classroom printer so that they can type and print their final drafts. They need card stock to print on and felt tip pens to outline and decorate along the border of the page. Lastly, I need poster paper to model/demonstrate examples of various free-verse techniques. When these requested resources become available, students will be able to submit a polished, creative, copy of their best work to me to 'publish' in a class free-verse poetry anthology! Very exciting!

My students are encouraged to take next steps and reach for the stars...Publishing their amazing work is exciting for them, as they can see how their dreams can, indeed, be realized.
