Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our fine arts magnet school is located in a vibrant and diverse community. Although we are in a high poverty district, our school has been able to retain our fine arts magnet status. However, it has been a challenge to find the funding for exciting, up-to-date learning materials that fit our 21st-century students.
One hundred percent of the students who attend our school receive free or reduced-price lunch.
We have a highly diverse immigrant population. As a choice school, students from many different backgrounds and countries attend our fine arts program. Our staff works hard to provide them with any materials they need to enhance their learning experiences.
My Project
The materials included in this project would really make a difference in my classroom. Our current privacy folders have seen better days and would love to be replaced. Some students work better when they have the privacy folder up and are not distracted. We could also very much use the magnetic large board timer. I could set the time for how long they have to get ready for different activities and even for getting ready to go home. The students would love it! We also are still working on getting place value skills in place as well. These two place value kits would be perfect as they are large and magnetic. Some of my students are still saying they do not like to read. I truly believe that if I had these chairs, these reluctant readers would line up to have a chance to read in these cool alternative seats!
