My Students
My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. Our school is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in our area of Brooklyn. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Creole, Hindi, Punjab, Mandarin and Cantonese. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.
We are expanding our Career and Technical Education Program to include Electrical Construction.
Students have expressed interest in learning about electrical construction. Our school has interior and exterior space for the programs but we need help with resources.
My Project
Students are working with construction materials creating hands on projects. They sometimes carry and transport sharp edged materials and materials that weigh enough to damage their feet. Their cutting construction material metals, nailing and joining woods with hand tools and power tools and possibly standing on theses materials to accomplish theses projects. Sometimes they are working on ladders.
My students have such a willingness to learn that I want them to have all the necessary safety personal protective equipment they need and these boots will help them do their projects safely.
Students learn the skills used to master complicated electrical construction tasks and projects, they mimic the skills needed to one day be on actual Construction job sites.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
