Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are a Title I school and have maintained high standards in our teaching practice to receive an A/B rating for the past 5 years and recognized as an A+ school by the Arizona Educational Foundation from 2018 to 2021!
Our students will be exploring STEAM topics with a focus on technology, and engineering, and love to use technology to create and explore, but lack the exposure to the materials needed to create and share what they've learned.
We have a majority of staff and students well-trained in Kagan Engagement Structures and strive for innovation, collaboration, and creativity.
My Project
We are seeking 16 tablets to use with our Kinder, 1st, and 2nd-grade students so they can use Scratch Jr. creatively to express themselves. Students love to code our Dash Robots, but with Chromebooks, they can be bulky to handle. Also, the tablets will create more stations for indepentdent students to explore other programming and creativity tools in the STEAM Room.
The tablets will give our younger students the chance to be more mobile with devices without fear of dropping a heavy laptop.
Students will also be learning how to work cooperatively with pair programming and work on their listening and leadership skills.
