My Project
One of the most important tools in the fire service is a ladder. It is something that firefighters might use on a daily basis from replacing the batteries in a community member's smoke detector to putting it next to a window to help a trapped victim escape a structure fire. With repetition and practice, I plan on training the Fire/EMS students in the at our school how to confidently, safely, and effectively deploy and use a variety of ladders including a Little Giant style ladder.
Another tool commonly used in the fire service is the Thermal Image Camera.
It reveals hot spots during and after a structure fire, and can also be used in search and rescue operations to locate a missing victim. Having a Thermal Image Camera will prepare the Fire and EMS students how to utilize a "TIC" to its fullest potential, and again be confident and effective with tools of the trade
Overall both of these items will significantly help prepare our students to be career ready and have a huge leg up on other applicants when applying for Fire and EMS based jobs.
