My Students

My students are extremely hard-working, and exhibit the traits that have made our drum group well-known throughout our county - Discipline, Teamwork, Responsibility. As a result of Hurricane Florence, we have had to schedule several after-school practice sessions in order to be prepared for our upcoming Christmas performance. These students have come into each session focused and ready to get the job done.

Their determination has truly been inspiring and impressive.

They may not possess the highest academic averages, but they have a work ethic and skill level when it comes to making music that is unparalleled.

My Project

Buckets give us the opportunity to keep this one-of-a-kind music group going. The Sheetrock Drummers have become a source of inspiration for our entire school, from the students right on up to the staff. Many who see us for the first time experience a shift. They are bewildered when they see third and fourth graders coming in carrying a 5-gallon bucket. But that bewilderment soon turns to amazement as they see what our students can do with such a common, day-to-day object. Our school is situated in a low-income area and there are little to no opportunities in our community. But for over 20 years now, the Sheetrock Drummers has continued to be a source of pride for all in our small town.
