This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are amazing! As part of a small learning community, they have learned the importance and beauty of building strong relationships with both each other and their teachers. We are so fortunate to be part of such a vibrant and diverse community that gets to learn and grow together.
It is not an understatement to say that my students are going to change the world for the better with their strength, kindness and intelligence.
My hope is to help them continue their love of learning for the sake of learning by creating a space where reading, learning and conversing feel easy and comfortable.
These materials will help create a comfortable home-like setting in our classroom, facilitating more seating options for independent study, small study groups and an area to engage with each other about anything they are studying.
The requested materials are intended to create a sense of comfort and safety, which in turn allows students the bandwidth to focus on their learning. Coming back from virtual learning has been a challenge for everyone. A comfortable space makes school feel like a welcoming place where everyone wants to be. I specifically asked my students how we could create a space that allowed them to feel safe and brave, these items are precisely what they requested.
