This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is full of eager learners. A typical day in our class is a mixture of lots of learning and tone of fun. I've been blessed with students who love school, especially math! My goal is to grow my students' love for math by helping them to get a deeper understanding of the subject.

I have sixty-four fifth graders that range in age from ten to eleven.

My students come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. Our school is in a high poverty, urban area in NYC, in which many families are faced with a low income.

Our school atmosphere is absolutely amazing. Students, teachers and other faculty and staff operate as one big family. The students are eager to learn and impress their parents, teachers, principal and community. They go above and beyond each day to make us all proud.

My Project

We will use this table for guided math, which is an initiative that truly requires students to be seated in the manner this table provides to be successful. Strategy groups involve working with students who are in need of instruction in the same skill.

This table and stools will enable me to work with multiple students at one time, as opposed to the table I have now, where I can barely comfortably meet with one student.

This table will allow students to easily work together in the peer-assessment process and effectively collaborate as well while receiving small-group instruction. The stools provide them a place to sit while collaborating. It will be an asset to our classroom and will be used everyday.
