Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first time art teacher I have learned that artists all work at different speeds. Some finish early and need something to work on independently. Most of the time kids can either work on an art center, or free draw. Almost all students choose to free draw. As my pile of pictures grew and grew I wondered what other teachers did with kids' free drawings. I started to following this amazing art teacher and learned about her use of sketchbooks.
Sketchbooks allow students to express their emotions as well as grow as artists.
Help me to bring this idea to my classroom. Let me provide a safe place for students to express their emotions, and track all the things they learn in art for a year with these sketchbooks and Sharpies.
