Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Here at our school, we have over 500 students. We are a Title I school which means that our students come from lower-income households.
I am the music teacher which means I get to teach every student in the building.
My students love to come to music to sing, dance, play instruments and, most importantly, to learn! They love to be creative by adding accompaniments to songs they know as well as by creating music of their very own. I love being their teacher!
My Project
There was an old music teacher who was looking for new ideas to share with her students. These new books and instruments would be a perfect way to do this! The books are all based on the original song "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly." They are silly little renditions that my students just love. Not only will we be able to sing along with the story, but we will be able to add instruments to enhance our learning fun. The jingle sticks and mounted bells would be great instruments to add to our singing. We also need a place to store our instruments, so the storage boxes would be a great way to store and keep our instruments safe.
These items will give my students new ways to learn in music.
The best part is, they will be having fun while they learn! They will love the silly stories, and they will definitely love to sing and play the instruments along with the music.
