My students are an amazing group of makers and creators! This year will be their first year experiencing a STEM Lab at school. For some students, this will be their first time using robotics, learning to code, and creating using online tools!
The STEM Lab is a place where ALL students can feel safe to try new ideas, create new things, and learn from their failures!
For this reason, it is important for the STEM Lab to have a diverse collection of technology, flexible seating, and makerspace materials available for students to use. With these materials, the possibilities will be endless!
My Project
This year, our computer lab is being transformed into a STEM lab! With that change comes a great need for more flexible seating options!
My student engineers need a large area rug in our STEM lab to provide a comfortable floor space to spread out and work.
The floor in our STEM lab is vinyl and students often like building structures or programming robotics on the floor. In addition to using the rug as a flexible seating area for our STEM activities, I will use the rug to gather my youngest students for STEM read-alouds!
The large 9ft by 12ft area rug will provide enough room for all students to have a seat for read-alouds as well as provide enough room for students to work on their STEM activities comfortably!
