I love my students!!! I teach Pre-International Baccalaureate 9th graders who come to me in September wide-eyed and a little overwhelmed as they are experiencing high school for the first time! I love watching them grow and change as the year goes on, watching their confidence and self-esteem soar! My 9th graders have amazing energy, they are hilarious and bright. They have taken on the challenge of being in an academically rigorous program in a building where many of the students are not academically motivated.
My Advanced Placement Psychology students (grades 10-12) and my IB Psychology students (grade 12) are super smart, super motivated, and super fun!
So many of them go above and beyond what I ask of them. They are creative, ambitious and intrinsically driven.
Many of my students come from disadvantaged homes. They rarely have the supplies needed to work to their full potential. My husband and I spend hundreds of dollars every school year on notebook paper, pens, pencils, tissues, and hand sanitizer.
I am a strong believer in cooperative learning and teamwork, therefore my students often break into small groups or work in pairs. I need chart paper and markers to facilitate lessons that allow my students to interact with each other sharing knowledge and ideas.
Chart paper can be utilized a zillion ways in the classroom!
In groups or with a partner, we will use the chart paper and markers to brainstorm ideas for projects and presentations, create mind maps and graphic organizers, outline empirical evidence, analyze quotes and many other instructional activities. The chart paper allows for students to easily present and share their ideas with their classmates in the form of presentations or gallery walks.
