Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These items will help fill my new therapy room with comfort for the students to feel safe and supported. This is a space where they are free to come throughout the day when they need a break from the stress and anxieties related to school, as well as where they will be receiving 1:1 psychotherapy.
The games I have included will provide a more interactive way for these students to begin to process and work through trauma, as well as learn to manage their emotions and behaviors.
The therapy putty and stress balls will help them physically release some stress, anger, and sadness while engaging in conversation during therapy sessions.
Most of my students arrived in the United States 3-5 months ago and have seen, heard, and been through a lot both systemically and personally. Having a safe, comfortable, and expressive space for them is the first step in helping them begin to heal.
