This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students (K-4) are working on communication goals so they can interact with their teachers and peers and participate in their school and home communities. The thing I love most about my students is that they are such unique learners. They always keep me on my toes and challenge me to make our therapy sessions something that will help them reach their goals outlined in their IEP as well as goals that may not be something I could write in the IEP such as giving them confidence, showing them their voice matters, and showing them how to advocate for themselves. I try to incorporate a lot of creative projects for my students to make our sessions interesting which helps them continue to think about their skills outside my room. Providing my students with these fun, tactile, and versatile activities will engage them to work on their communication skills as well as help them engage with each other by using social skills such as sharing, taking turns, problem-solving, commenting, and requesting.
