This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We have an underfunded and under supplied therapy gym at our preschool center where occupational therapists and physical therapist have paid out of pocket for expensive sensory equipment to support our students with various sensory needs. Our school is currently facing massive budget cuts, in a district where majority of the students are from low socioeconomic communities primarily compromised of african american and hispanic populations. As an occupational therapist, I aspire to provide my students with equitable, authentic, high quality therapy that they need and deserve.

We need to create a safe flooring system for our autistic students who often take their shoes and socks off to explore the therapy gym environment.

We are looking for therapy gym mats to cover our peeling tiled flooring to make it safe for the students to sit on a swing, jump, run and walk to develop their gross and fine motor skills!
