Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my job. I am an occupational therapist (OT) with the Los Angeles Unified School District. As an OT, I get to work with children who are often misunderstood, undervalued, and don't always get the same opportunities as other children. For many of them, coming to OT is the highlight of their day. I get to work one on one with them or in a small group, creating fun, engaging and therapeutic activities for them so that they can be better learners and friends.

However, I work at several different schools, which makes it difficult to buy enough supplies to serve all of the kids I work with.

My students often work best when they are engaging in a novel, interesting and interactive activity. It becomes difficult to continuously buy new materials with such a large caseload and such a small budget.
