This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The sophomore English classrooms at our high school are making a shift to project based learning. Our goal for our students is to use creative outlets like art and performance to help cultivate a fun and exciting learning environment. We don't want to continue down the mundane path of lectures and notes, so incorporating more artistic paths of showing mastery will help every student learn in their own unique way.
In English, we do more than just read and write; we help our students learn to think about experiences from new perspectives, we encourage students to make connections between the concepts we cover in class to the world around them, which builds more empathetic and aware adults.
We want our students to know that we understand everyone learns differently, and instead of stifling this, we embrace it. These painting supplies would be a huge asset in our classrooms, as high school teachers are almost always the ones who have to supply these items for our students, and often cannot afford them.
