My Students
I have 47 of the most adorable 9-10 year olds of all time! My students are in an immersion program and fluently speak both English and Chinese. I even have several students that speak three languages including Russian and Spanish.
My kids are gifted, creative, brilliant, driven hard workers.
As a third year teacher I am constantly looking for ways to improve myself to meet their varying needs. Due to the varying levels of readiness, our classroom has a focus on differentiation. This allows each student the opportunity to reach their personal best.
My Project
Welcome to my third year of teaching! I feel that I have learned so much and grown as a teacher. Over the past two years one thing has become absolutely clear, students learn more effectively when they are immersed and excited about the concepts. Upon learning this I have spent countless hours creating games, puzzles, and other resources to make learning fun. One of my favorite ways to teach and review is through different themes. These themes and activities immerse students in learning so much they actually forget they are doing schoolwork.
These materials will help me continue to make learning fun and immersive.
I have split the year up into different activities and themes that teach students not only the concepts, but team work, kindness, and socialization. For example, in the winter students compete in the "Winter Division Olympics" students are split into teams of varying levels. They compete with their team to complete their homework, learn concepts, and play math themed games. Students are engaged and are active in helping their classmates understand the material as well.
These materials would go to the following theme days... Superhero Addition/Subtraction, Mystery Multiplication, Winter Division Olympics, Star Wars Fractions, Harry Potter Conversions, and Summer Review Olympics
