My students love coming to the auditorium to experience the magic of theater through performance, stage design, and improvisation. It's one of the few places where there is zero judgement and everyone is helping each other find their inner selves through portrayal of characters.
My students mean the world to me, and affording them every opportunity to succeed and develop a love for theater is my only wish for them.
It is my hope that materials that we acquire through this site will allow my students opportunities to explore the world of theater and, in turn, discover creativity within themselves.
My Project
My students study plays in their Studio in Theater Arts class. We explore acting technique, staging requirements, theatrical design, and theater history. In order to do this, we need real theatrical plays in order to get a cross-section of theater history, and explore these various techniques. Sadly, through a miscommunication, our play collection has been misplaced, and in order to replenish it, we need your help!
Theater is a study of the human condition and how to portray it on stage, and for students, it's one of the few subjects where they can explore their emotions through performance, as well as to be creative.
The publications we are fundraising for hit a large cross-section of modern and classic theatrical pieces, as well as monologue books and theatre resources geared specifically for teenagers. Plays include compilations of short plays (5-10 minute plays and one-acts) as well as full length productions including: A View From the Bridge, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, The Crucible, Steel Magnolias, Hamlet, Rumors, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Glass Menagerie, Rabbit Hole, The Dining Room, The Normal Heart and more. These will be used for scene study from acting, directing, and design standpoints, utilizing real productions to draw inspiration from. Also, these plays and the monologue books to be purchased give students an opportunity to prepare for future public speaking situations, as well as auditions in the theater world.
