This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Metropolitan Business Academy is a magnet school in New Haven, Connecticut and is populated with students from not only New Haven, but surrounding suburban schools. All of my students are freshman and are required to take my Theatre class to fulfill their Arts requirement. Most of my students are non-arts kids and are often stressed about having to take a Theatre class. At the end of the school year, I get many thank-you notes from my students thanking me for helping them feel more comfortable about not only speaking in class, but speaking in front of the class. Many have stated that they dreaded coming to class but in the end, were thankful for it.

My Project

The air purifier will help filter out the germs since none of the windows in the school open. The masks are for those whose broke, they forgot or just don't have one. The monologue books are used to help them become comfortable speaking in front of the class.

Many of my students have never spoken in front of a class.

To help them feel more comfortable having monologues they can relate to is helpful, but also, in the time of this virus, having a purifier and extra masks will be comforting for them
