People tend to forget that students feel stressed and overwhelmed, just like adults. However, unlike adults, they have not learned the necessary strategies to deal with, or channel their feelings. Many times, students just need a moment or two of quiet to be able to refocus and recharge. Learning how to solve problems and regulate emotions are critical life skills that will transcend the classroom. Providing space for this supports student's social-emotional well being; a much needed focus in today's educational setting.
The Zen Zone will be a safe and comforting space where students can go to breathe, focus, and reflect on whatever it is that is blocking their learning.
I am requesting the materials to create a safe, soothing space so students can stay in the classroom, recharge, and refocus on learning, while finding ways to heal.
