Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The weighted animals will provide a sense of comfort, relaxation, and a sense of calm. The play dough, building materials, and fidget toys will provide quiet, hands-on activities that will enhance focus and attention while giving the students a tangible way to channel their emotions and energy, enabling them to regain a sense of calm. The lava lamp and fish tank provide a calm and relaxing form of visual stimulation for the students who prefer to sit and think. The headphones will be used for listening to music, white noise, audiobooks, and podcasts for students who need auditory input to regain their sense of peace. The coloring pencils, play dough, and modeling clay will be provided to the students, enabling them to release their frustrations and regain a sense of calm and tranquility. At the same time, the books will be used as tools to allow the students to learn about coping skills and how to utilize them.
A zen room in a middle school serves as a quiet, calming space where students can reduce stress, manage emotions, and practice mindfulness.
It supports emotional regulation and conflict resolution and enhances academic focus by providing a peaceful environment conducive to learning and well-being.
The requested materials will enable our students to process their emotions, manage stress, and address other issues before returning to class ready to learn.
