The Year of Learning and Coding

Help me give my students Chinese New Year crafts and more Bee-Bots so my special needs students can also learn how to code.

My Project

These Bee-Bots are the perfect way to introduce coding to my special needs students who visit the library. They will learn coding by mashing direction buttons on the robot itself. They will be able to look at the problem of trying to get the robot from point A to point B, and try to figure out how many steps in each direction they have to program the robot to move, to get to their end goal. We can program them to go to a different letter of the alphabet to help them learn letters, or go to colors, shapes, numbers, etc.

These will not only help introduce basic STEM and coding to my students, but also help reinforce things they are learning in the classroom in a fun way.

I would also like to introduce them to different cultures. These crafts are the perfect way to show my students a little more about China and their Chinese New Year traditions. We will look up our own Chinese zodiac animal and then learn what those characteristics represent. The book will help us introduce the Chinese Lunar New Year to us and then they will make their own dragon and paint a Chinese New Year house.
