This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a wonderful group of 2nd graders who are full of energy, curiosity, and imagination. Many of them are eager to share their ideas, but they struggle when it comes time to put pencil to paper. Writing simple sentences is still very challenging for them, and their handwriting is often messy and hard to read. For some, just getting started is the hardest part.

That’s why I’m requesting a variety of fun, engaging pencils to help make writing feel exciting and special.

Sometimes, something as small as a cool pencil can motivate a child to pick it up and try. Whether it’s a sparkly pencil, a twisty one, or one with their favorite character, these little tools can make a big difference in building confidence and getting them to write more.

My goal is to increase the amount and quality of writing my students do each day. I want them to feel proud of their work, to write complete sentences, and to see themselves as writers. These special pencils will be used as rewards, motivators, and even writing buddies to help students stay focused and take ownership of their learning.

What makes my students special is their big hearts and determination. Even when writing is hard, they keep trying. With a little encouragement and some fun new tools, I know they can grow so much this year. Thank you for helping me support these amazing kids!
