This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school, located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, NY. My students are from diverse cultures. Most of my students are from low-income households. Many of my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite those challenges, they come in excited and eager to learn and interact with their classmates.

My students are special because they inspire me to become a better teacher.

They have taught me that there is a brighter side despite any negativity you are faced with. I want to be able to provide my students with a safe and consistent classroom environment. A home away from home.

I want nothing more than to inspire my students in the same manner they do for me.

My Project

My students inspire me to become a better educators as well as better people. Despite their struggles, they are always smiling and eager to learn. Due to the pandemic, many of my students were not in person and did not have many opportunities to write or use writing supplies. Many are not able to hold the thinner pencils properly. These supplies will help them keep the pencils properly. They will also be used to help improve their handwriting.

My Kindergarten students need beginner-sized pencils and pencil grips.

We are currently running low on supplies in the classroom.

We need pencils, a sharpener for the more giant pencils, pencil grips and copy paper. My job as the teacher is to ensure that my students are learning by differentiating the materials and lessons. When determining, I use a lot of writing, creating different versions of the assignments for my students. The copy paper will also allow me to print resources for the classroom and at home to help them practice penmanship.
