My Students

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go." – Dr. Seuss. These fantastic, informational books will be each student's “ticket” to learning about people and “traveling” to places over the summer.

My students are curious about the world around them.

I am proud to teach a very active and inquisitive group of kindergarten students. We are a blended "family" in our classroom. This "family" includes ESOL students, several speech students who receive services for processing and articulation, students with learning and emotional disabilities, and students with other health impairments such as ADHD.

My Project

A writing center is one of the most important centers in a kindergarten classroom. The Table Top Writing Center will allow students an organized space to become authors and illustrators. Students will use the blank books and other publishing supplies to write informational and fictions books about anything they wish.

This is the place where students will be given a choice of materials to use to create books about topics of their choice. Research show that students are more motivated when given these choices.

We all know that practice is essential. When students work alongside peers in this writing center, they will be practicing several types of skills. Certainly, the book making in the center will reinforce concepts of print, phonetic knowledge, and storytelling. The work in this center will also reinforce social skills. While working in the center, students will be given the opportunity to grow in oral language and to cooperate with others. Students will indeed get the "RIGHT" stuff the "WRITE" way!
