Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a low-income school where more than 90% of our school population is on free or reduced lunch. All of my pre-k students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students come to school each day eager to learn, ready to try new things, work hard, and do their best.
They practice kindness, sharing, and friendship.
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to interact with their classmates.
Funds are limited so DonorsChoose, org is my chance to help our students get the materials they need to be successful.
My Project
The materials in this project will help me start a new writing center with materials that can be used throughout the year. Students will progressively use these materials from August until May as their writing skills improve.
Students in Pre-kindergarten love to write and having multiple devices and materials for them to write with will enhance their writing development.
The whiteboards will help students write as a whole group when we practice writing letters, names, and words. We will start the center with the gumball machine and the wipe-off boards as it helps build the fine motor skills. We will progress to writing the alphabet letters using the alphabet materials.
My students are lucky to have generous donors to help enhance their learning experiences.
