The Wow Classroom

My Students

I teach middle school physical education and health education to students who come from low economic households in New York. My class sizes consist of 30 students in the gymnasium and/or the classroom. Many of my students say it's difficult to get supplies and with the new COVID guidelines students are not able to share materials. In the mornings I coach a 5th grade BOKS program that encourages movement, functional fitness, and nutrition education.

As a physical education and health education teacher, I strive to make my classes engaging for my students.

I'm so proud of the growth I've seen them conquer throughout the year. My students are creative, interested, and full of energy! I am truly lucky to have such a great group of students.

My Project

Having decorations for my classroom will help bring a positive vibe for my students. They deserve to sit in a room that feels comfortable and safe while they learn. In the past when I have decorated my rooms students notice it and appreciate it. When I decorate the room I feel that students appreciate the hard work and effort and are more likely to treat the room respectfully because they know you care.

I love seeing students pass my room and pointing to their work because they are proud to see it on my creative bulletin boards.

It helps give off a positive vibe so that when students enter the room they feel good about themselves. Recognizing students for their hard work is important so that they see how hard their working year round. Having student work up and displayed in a creative way is a huge motivator in my classroom.
