Help me give my students blackout curtains for an area in the classroom that can be set up as a small black box stage along with assorted costume accessories to help them create acting scenes.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach middle school in a large urban school. My school is in a very diverse area. For many of my students English is not their first language. My students are experiencing theater, many for the very first time. I want to create a space for them to explore the many aspects of theater.
This project will create a black box space and help me fill it with costume accessories.
The students can then use the space for scene work, presentations, pantomime, and tableau pictures that are some of the activities that I hope to explore this next year. Hopefully, with your help, I will spark an interest in theater in my students.
