Hello. I am a very lucky teacher of 24 students in Queens, NY. About half of my students have special educational and emotional needs. One thing they need is more books to support their social studies studies. We study communities around the world and while we'd love to go to China or Africa as a class field trip, that is not going to happen. Instead we need books with detailed pictures and text to support their understanding of the concepts I am teaching. Students will be able to use these books to "travel" to these communities without leaving the physical classroom. They will be able to learn how people around the world live in similar and different ways than they do themselves. We would be able to use these books throughout the year as we discover many communities around the world. Through this discovery students will have a better understanding of the varied people, cultures, and belief systems, gaining a greater understanding and tolerance of those who may be different than the people within their home community. With that understanding caring and compassion can emerge. Please help us by donating these books about communities around the world. Thank you.
